I recently purchased this TV and stunned with the speed of the processor and storage. Prior to purchasing this TV, I bought the KM 2 Plus Deluxe and I was impressed with the performance. I was using the Onn TV Pro and decided to upgrade. The Mecool was noticeably better than Onn but not any better than using the Google TV with Hisense.
The interface is smooth and quick and apps download and install quickly. I installed Kodi and it quickly loads and plays flawlessly.
Hisense does not state the processor though and says it proprietary. Here are the other specifications.
WiFi 6e
19 gig storage
2.1 HDMi
up to 144hz, most stream boxes are 60, I think!
AI up scaling
Speed test with analiti 103Mbs with Surfshark and 343 without VPN. I have a max of 400 MBs with Verizon 5G internet
So are you able to download a VPN like Express VPN directly on the TV with no streaming box? I have a Samsung and there is no VPN available on that except with a streaming device.
Most smart tvs have only 3 to 4 gbs of internal memory so it is good to see some manufacturers offering new higher end sets with more memory. Having 3 or more gbs of RAM on the processor would also help with streaming. I believe TCL now has 32 gbs of internal memory on their current high end tvs. One of the arguments for android streaming devices is the lack of RAM and internal memory on most tvs.
I just bought a Hisense OD6 model (the bottom series is for low budget folks like me).
Unfortunately, the native operating system for this model, is Fire OS. Everything above that level is Google based. Anyhow, this TV’s Fire OS is fighting with my Fire Cube. I figured that I could just plug n’ play with what is currently loaded on the Cube, but the TV said no way. Fortunately my Shield Pro works just fine and the Cube was just a backup.
Otherwise the picture quality is quite a step above my 8 year old Vizio.
Ok, so I think that I’ve got things figured out with the issue of the TV and Cube not playing nice together.
The Cube thought that I was still using my old Vizio TV. Go figure! I was trying to set up the Dolby Vision and HDR+10 that the TV has as an option. Once I let the Cube know that the Vizio was history the Hisense and the Cube started liking each other. Such a simple thing! You would never know that I have two college degrees and spent over 30 years working on $5M machines in the biggest semiconductor fabs in the world.
Lord have mercy! Once the Dolby Vision and HDR is set up, it is like another world with this low end TV. I’m certain that there are other settings that I can play with. But I’m good for now.
