The MUO article deals primarily with phones’ apps and APKs. I can see the article’s point in protecting one’s phone from bad actors trying to bilk you out of money.
(One of the reasons that I moved away from Windows was all the scare pop-ups selling more security products that appears if you install any sort of security software…then having to tweak settings to keep the machine pleasantly useable, not to mention all the crappy bloatware and intrusive ads selling Microsoft 365, etc, etc.)
Hi friends, I’m a little confused about some of the messages in here saying this may only affect the phones? Doesn’t matter which type, iPhone or Android. I use my onn 4k pro android tv box connected to my Samsung smart TV. Only time I have to use my phone is to get an updated code from the trakt, or one of the debrid services needed in order to type into the POV and Umbrella Kodi Addon pages. Please help this poor ignorant person out by explaining the above-mentioned sideloading using ADB, etc… the only ADB apps I use are UK Tech’s cleaning and closing for applications and cleaning cache and rebooting my onn 4k pro streaming box. I’m so ignorant of a lot of the messages saying what that member will/would do. Thank you 
Hi @Patachou First of all, this won’t affect your iPhone. This is a Google Android initiative. One thing I am not sure of if its only going to affect Google certified devices and/or an AOSP device. If you like doing your sideloading like a lot of us and you enable a new setting in Developer Options called “allow apps from unverified developers” you will get prompted to accept these terms. You can accept the terms permanently, and after 24 hours you can go back to sideloading as much as you like for as long as you like. Or you can accept the terms for a one-time setup and have to do that each time you want to sideload something. As far as I can tell that will be the extent of it. This was a long post so Im not sure if it cleared things up

I realize that it is all speculation on what the effects of the sideloading crack down will entail. But in my case, being a Kodi user, I’m thinking that since Kodi is available on the Play Store, that there shouldn’t be any affect on that app. Just a question for any that fully understands what will take place during the enforcement.
Ok, my 24 hours have passed since I enabled “allow apps from unverified sources” and I somehow survived. My sideloaded apps worked before, during, and after I enabled this. I sideloaded another app just to test without any problems. I don’t know if any of the developers for my apps were unverified though. I think we will all get through this.
This is why in addition to having the onn pro on all our TVs I’ve added stock android boxes. I’m ready to roll if or when the day comes .
