I just purchased a new firetv with os 7.6.0.8 and found a way around the blocking of developer options. I took a fire stick and put it into hdmi1 jack and switched inputs on the tv and I can watch what I had on the fire stick. All the apps that i loaded on the fire stick now works on the new firetv
