I’ve been reading that with Amazon Fire OS 7 you can’t jailbreak it. That they have locked down the settings so you can only allow certain downloaded apps access to install from unknown sources. Is this true. Was thinking of getting the Fire tv Cube. Thanks

Troy reviewed the new 4K max with Fire OS 7 and he has jailbroken it in the usual way.

Hello @Grahamk no, you can still do everything with the Fire TV Cube as you can with the old devices. Fire OS 7 is just a bit different. The one main difference is that it’s best to install Downloader first as you need to turn on Unknown Sources for each application. On Fire OS 6 and lower, there was a universal Unknown Sources button that covered all apps. As @Miki points out, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max is running the same Fire OS 7 as the new Cube is.
