My computer and TV are connected with ethernet Cat5. My speed at the computer is 15 ping, 934 download and 236 upload. My modem is 2.5’ from the computer. The TV is one floor down in the basement. Ping is 20, download is 74 and upload is 80. These speeds are with Surfshark connected. There is hardly and different with the VPN off. I contacted the internet company and they suggested I rent a booster for $7/month. Other than changing to a Cat6 cable, are there any other options?
TV Ethernet port may only be able to handle 100mb. Try Wifi on TV, it may be faster.
And longer Cat5 (not Cat5e) cable frequently causes drops to 100Mbps on a gigabit ethernet.
