BuzzTV X5 First Impressions Video

This was the initial review. I read the final review, but there was not a finial tutorial. What are the details of setting up USB storage on the X5?

I have friends who use USB to download old movies and TV shows.

Hello @rjwinkler I don’t provide a setup tutorial on every item that we review. I wouldn’t recommend expanding storage on this as you already have a ton of internal space. What I would do in this case is just plug in a USB drive but don’t expand the storage. You can still use the USB drive for dropping movies/tv shows onto it as long as they are less than 4GB. Install a file explorer like ES or X Plore to manage the files on the USB drive. If you do want to expand storage, it is the same exact process as all other Android TV devices. I agree, i have mine but the IPTV does not work well at all, no search function and very few of the play list shows up where as the Tivimate works great but recording is limited and records about 10 hours when I only need 1 hour so a good tutorial would be great.

There is many tutorials for iptv, recording and usb use. Im not sure what els you need. But lots is covered.

Hello, I just got an email back from BuzzTV dev and he said that search function is coming in next update for the device. He said that the problem right now is that there isn’t a search button on the remote so they are going to use the Buzz button and that will open a popup with multiple options and searching is one of them.

I have an ONN, so I know how it is done. I just wanted to know how to do USB on the X5. I guess instead of private I use mixed. I appreciate all that you do, I don’t have the experience with these new boxes, so I ask questions. The explanation to install a USB drive in the X5 probably is the best solution. Do I format this USB drive with Rufus?

Yes, I would format first just to be sure it is FAT32. But, with this device, you don’t need to worry about all of the ADB stuff because you can just do it out of the box as this device supports expanding internal storage whereas the Onn doesn’t. We need ADB commands on the Onn but not the BuzzTV. Watch how I do it in the video on the page that I linked to with the MECOOL KM2.

Thanks for your reply, i wasn’t expecting that. The tutorial i was asking about really is the fact i’m not having much success setting it up, i have put in both M3U and EPG and neither one seems to load and display the playlist like it does in Tivimate. I will of course keep trying.

I am having trouble with BuzzTV on returning my X5. I can use Troy’s help. I sent BuzzTV the information twice. This box was overrated in the review. I don 't want to list why I want to send it back since there are a lot of members who like this box. Troy has my email address and if required I will provide my Phone number if that’s what it takes.

I have very few apps and after latest update, I get Not Enough Memory, but I have fewer apps than on Firestick.
Also I have Vizios best tv, but remote will not pair with input, all other buttons worked using second method to pair.
Tivimate and Wolf Launcher work without a hitch.

You do understand that youbare allowed to dislike and disapprove of something even if troy or anyone really likes it.

These reviews are fantastic but its also up to you to decide if its for you. If you disagree thats normal.

Feel free to post your issues maybe we can help if not return it if you feel thats necessary. The choice is yours and nobody is going to attack you for it. Im sorry you didnt like the buzz box.

Its like tivimate, its the general favorite, but others would disagree. Mytvonline2 for example is very under-rated. Buzz does do updates of there software, so thats a huge plus.

Just like anything in life, some agree with what I say and some don’t. All reviews on our site is MY opinion. Saying that my review is ā€œoverratedā€ is YOUR opinion and I respect that.

Just like the VPN debate…it’s all personal preference. Same is true with any electronic device, car, food, pet, the list goes on and on.

Assuming that you are using their Return page here?

I hope my opinion on the X5 will not get me in trouble with you. Troy, I respect your opinion and I appreciate all the knowledge I have received from the insider. I will continue on the insider and do what I can and keep my opinions to myself.

I would just like to say that I have purchased many boxes for myself and others and usually I am the one that lifts the hood and tunes it up for my friends etc before they ever see it. I often get a box and do not like it at first. The opposite happened with the x5. I liked it at first and as I dug down I found issue after issue…but I do not jump the gun and return, you usually have a window and I watch that closely and continue adjusting the box. Granted the last update was a dud but Dont give up…wait for the next update, afterall it is a new release.
Also for those new to this type of box…its not like anything you have used before. It is built on the BuzzTV system and Troy made that very evident in his review, So I knew what I was getting into. This box as far as speed goes is the fastest ive ever had and plays (so far) videos with zero issues, so that part I like. A box (imho) always needs tuning as circumstances are different for everybody. In my case to weather the storm I installed Wolf and extra storage to get past the no storage availiable limit(what it says?)… I’m gona hang on and see this through.

i agree,i like this box and like you i think the last update was a dud but it seems the developers are very attuned to their customers and i expect the next update to fix alot of these issues,i have a 256gb sd card and a 256 usb plugged into the box and did not add either to internal storage.i use the sd card for timeshift and to download movies behind my vpn,i use the usb to sideload apps and play some of my previously downloaded movies
iptv record works great and the timeshift is awesome
works very well for me and that box is fast!!

Do not buy this. It has potential but I wish that I had bought a Shield.I can not add anymore apps. Initial install, I set up most of my favorite apps and they work well.
Until the memory full error is fixed, this is a fatal flaw.

i have a shield? no sd card slot?..really? this is a way more powerfull box!
do this, try to download and run pluto tv app from playstore and try to run it on your shield…lol lot’s of other playstore apps don’t run on it and you have to do a work around…no thx
the shield is now in the basement…the kids luv it for their cartoons,at least it’s good for that…lol

Thanks, I finally got an Email tell. me I can ship it back. I had to pay $32 to send it back. I don’t want to cause problems so I will only post one thing about the X5. The tutorial ran the X5 on Ethernet cable, I ran it on WIFI and performance was not what I expected.

I guess I just got spoiled with the ONN. My opinion is that the $19.88 ONN performance is good even if you have to expand memory with USB.

great video and I bought it and I love it. i hope you come out with another buzztv5 video for all the things you didnt cover. I figured out a bunch of stuff on my own but im sure theres alot more to learn
