Actually, I couldn’t get anything to run. It wasn’t just ESPN and CBS. I just used those as examples. I still haven’t been home enough to try that alternative source, but I’ll let you know when I do.
It appears that the video, “Only 4 Kodi Addons Needed” in the above link has been removed from the link. Is that because it no longer works? If so, that would explain my troubles with it. What would then be the best addon for live TV?
That would be DreamTV or Dream Machine as it is going to be called come October. The addon works really well. Do a search for it and you will find the instructions to install it in Kodi.
IMO Live TV on KODI is extremely unreliable and totally dependent on the Addon Developer maintaining the Live section. Very hit or miss. I would recommend looking into an unverified IPTV service. If you become a Patron you have access to the locked thread where there are several good IPTV recommendations.
I couldn’t get Daddy Live to run at all using the https://fubuz.github.io repo.
Is dream machine working for you?

Unfortunately, I can no longer get my Kodi to work. Google sent out an update and updared my OS to Android 14 and now Kodi does not work. SO I cannot even test it out. I think DreamTV was supposed to work until October 1, so maybe try that. Sorry I can’t help more.
I have Android 14 on my ONN 4K Pro and KODI works fine. I would suggest starting over and getting the latest KODI from the Troypoint Toolbox then installing an addon or 2. Umbrella and Fenlight AM are both working great
Kodi v21.2 is working well on all our Android 14 devices, including the one old ONN 4k that survived the update.
IMO, the best current addon we use is POV, though you have to find the settings and enable more sources like Comet and others. Umbrella has been good for a long time, though.
I have already done that several times. Kodi will load and will allow me to install addons. But, when I try to open an addon, I get kicked out to the Google home screen. I have all permissions granted, play protect off, and developer options enabled. This is not my first rodeo> I have been streaming for over 9 years and do know the ins and outs. No worries though, I installed Stremio and it is working perfectly, so Kodi is a thing of the past for me. Thank you for your suggestions though. You said exactly what I would have told anyone else.
Yea, I don’t know why my device is having problems. I know I am not the only one. I am using a MeCool KM7+. But after numerous times and hours spent trying to get my Kodi to work, I just went and installed Stremio and it is working flawlessly. So goodbye Kodi, Stremio has won out. It is pretty weird how some devices are fine with the update and some are not. Thanks for the reply. Appreciate it.
One other thing I did was I did a factory reset on my box to no avail. So after trying the Kodi install one more time, I went with Stremio.
Glad you have Stremio and at at a total loss of your issues as to why every time you load an addon you are kicked to the home screen. Been using KODI close to 10 years and can’t think of what it may be. Many including myself using Android 14 with KODI.
I have read somewhere that it involves Kodi having access to files within the OS, even though all permissions for access are granted. I likewise have used Kodi for most of the past nine years without issue. So it was a total surprise that it won’t work. Another problem with the Google update to Android 14 is the split second drop out of audio. It can happen 5-10 times in 15 minutes and then doesn’t happen for hours. It is totally random. I looked that up and Google is looking at a fix for that problem. I liked Kodi and was very used to it. I like Stremio, now that I have spent several weeks messing with it and getting it to where I want it. So no big loss other than the bewilderment of the Kodi no go.
Somehow I was under the impression that you were using an ONN device.
There’s obviously something that’s specific to the firmware update to your MeCool.
That seems to be the general consensus. After some research it does seem to be specific to MeCool devices. I have advised several friends and family members who have MeCool devices not to do the system update. They all have set settings to no auto updates. This for sure will be my only and last MeCool device.
That’s a shame, too. MeCools seem to be good boxes.
We have a MeCool KM1 and it’s been a great device for a good little while. Fortunately it’s stuck on Android 10.
Best Kodi Addons for Free Movies & TV (March 2026)
“Below are classic add-ons that may still work with older versions of Kodi”
Would be nice to know if they do?
With our limited team and resources unfortunately it’s not feasible for us to install several versions of Kodi and then test older add-ons to see if they all still work.
We have older versions of Kodi available in the TROYPOINT Toolbox so feel free to test them yourself! TROYPOINT Toolbox
