Just got my Asus router to protect my shield with VPN.
I have Expressvpn and just signed up for Nord, EVPN can only be setup as open VPN and what a disappointment. My normally DL speed 845 Mbps with open VPN by EVPN download was 45 Mbps.
With Nord token so easy setup cause Asus VPN fusion setup is configured and all I had to put us my Nord token and boom. My speed with Nord active is 700+ Mbps. Hooray
In case anyone else wants to do this I have a video tutorial here. Many of their top-end routers now support running VPN out of the box with no 3rd party firmware.
Hi Troy, the reason I bought this router was after I saw your review now you use surfshark that was already available as profile or nord, for express VPN i had to go in my express account and copy my username and password and where I want to connect and creat a OVPN file and paste it in the EVPN profile, save it and the numbers where what I mentioned.
I even reached out to Express VPN support online, they had no clue that this Asus can be used for EVPN, but they told me reach out to Asus on how to configure their VPN
My EVPN service is coming to the end anyhow and I got 27 months with Nord + 10 connection for $110 and EVPN wanted $10 a month to renew.
Troy thank you for latest surfshark offer .07 a day just cancelled Nord for 27 months and signed up with surfshark and it’s fast. I am assuming in the router when we setup the fusion we have no kill switch capabilities? Will my IP address be exposed without me knowing?
I use a Asus router and my whole house is protected. Absolutely love it, great speeds and easy to set up. Thanks to Troy’s video to set up, I have no worries and don’t need a vpn dot.
Our ASUS router is a RT-AX3000, by no means high end, and its native software supports Wireguard & OpenVPN.
If you’re a Safeshark user, it’d be super simple to set up Wireguard on this router. SS is the default service that pops up on the VPN Fusion page on it
I’m a ProtonVPN subscriber and Wireguard is easy to set up on the router with that, but does require a few more steps on the ProtonVPN account site which are kind of clunky the first time or two that you go through the procedure.
