Amazon has patched the Fire TV exploit that allowed custom launchers and blocking updates. A few days ago, I showed you how to take advantage of a major Fire TV exploit that allowed custom launchers, blocked updates, and gave users control over their devices. And just like I predicted, Amazon moved quickly to shut this…
Wow, that was fast. So glad I followed your advise and installed the update block. Its still working as of this morning. Thanks for all you do.
Just did the “HACK” on my neighbor’s Fire TV Cube 2nd generation! Worked fine.
My Firestick is currently running OS 8.1.4.5 and using Projectivy Launch Manager. However, upon checking the “Android Settings” for updates, I see that a new version is available (8.1.4.9) and will be “updated when Firestick is not in use”. I do not get the Error message as indicated in Troy’s video. Yet, within Launcher Manager all three of the options for app (OTA, ODEP and Arcus) updating have been disabled. Does this all mean I will still get potential app blocking from Amazon?
Does resetting to factory and then not updating upon installation prevent Amazon’s block?
Update: I just installed the Exploit on another Firestick that was already using an updated version, specifically 8.1.4.9. I decided to check the updates option. I too was getting the Checking now that didn’t ever finish. Upon exitiing and then going back to check and attempted to update resulted in the error message for available updates. This was consistent with Troy’s video of a successful exploit. So, I’ll see if this remains.
Glad I used the exploit before it was gone.
My 4k Max is running OS 7.7.0.4 and check for updates shows “checking now”. Not sure what it means. But, I will use my 4k Max until I can’t.

I have a question: When this TP work around came out I was on vacation. I am now back and ready to make the necessary changes to my firesticks. I have 5 firesticks 4 of them are version are version 6.7.1.1 and the other is 7.7.0.4. My guess is I can change the firestick that is version 7.7.0.4 but what can I do with the other 4 firesticks if anything to prevent Amazon from making changes?

Hello, I just came out with this video. I showed how I bought a new Fire TV Cube and blocked updates at router level, plugged in Cube and did exploit. Same would apply for any devices that haven’t received updates and are Fire OS 7 or 8.
TP this is only one of the reasons why you are our HERO!!!
Hopefully I’m in the right place to ask these questions. First my router url blocker is device specific so each cube has to be selected and added. To select it the device needs to have connected and been detected and identified by the router. This means logging into the wifi or wire with a new cube as part of the cube setup before the router can detect/identify it and I can add it. Does the holding of the back and info buttons part of the instruction Troy provided keep it from trying to update long enough to give me 30 seconds to get it detected then select and add it to my routers url blocking rule?
Second question. Does this patch and urls like these @mm@zon url’s exist for Nvidia Shield devices and the G00gle store?
Thanks
I installed the Projectivy on my 4K Max this past Sunday and followed directions. It has updated to 8.1.4.9 now.
The Projectivy launcher is running fine on 4K Max & 4K 2nd Gen installed today, Oct. 10.
Q. Does Project Launcher have to be active for disabled System apps to take effect and stop updates from Amazon?
I am running fire 7.70..4
This may have been updated by Amazon as of yesterday.
Be TV is no longer available.
Can I simply reinstall using the Troypoint tutorial, or do I have to do the recent “exploit” (sic) to recover it and block further Amazon patches?\
Any information or advice greatly appreciated,
M.
I have the same question. I typically use Background Apps and Process List to close any background apps to conserve memory/enhance performance. Does the com.wolf.tn permission grant set switches, or is Launcher Manager monitoring while running?
Hi, I think I have done this successfully (I am a noob to this) so then I am following the instructions on IPTV-Masterclass. All looked good but 2 problems. Although I installed both Kodi and IPTV Smarters, neither of them show up as a downloaded item. So then I disabled ProjectIvy which returned me to the original Firestick menu, same. so I thought ok well lets start with the Streamfire as per the video, immediately says there is an update, which never finishes downloading. Managed to ‘uninstall’ the app but now it won’t install! So now 3 Issues! Should I factory reset and start over?
I did comment on the original video , that when copying and pasting the url’s i’m getting an error message that they are not “valid” urls and need to be.
This is on a Nokia HA-140W-B
That patch worked first attempt, but I am also getting the “checking” message for updates on my 3rd gen cube
Hello, on my router, I must put only the URL in and not the http:// maybe on yours you need the http:// or https://. You can probably find out by searching the Internet for your brand of router and “block URLs via Firewall” or something like that.
OK thanks for that, i’ll check out you suggestion.
