Component updates take up so much space. I return every one of the components to factory using ES Fileexplorer.
The ram (1-2GB) also affects the performance but weâre talking storage (8GB) here.
Can you explain how this is done? Thanks
Interesting. I usually have to do a complete factory reset to accomplish this. Whatâs your procedure?
On the 4K Max I have an otg hub installed so I can use a mini keyboard with a touch pad so I can move the cursor around easily. If you donât have this option you will need mouse toggle. So open ES File Explorer move the cursor over to APP on the top right of the apps home screen. This will open a new window âUser Appsâ . Now in here you will see a bunch of the Amazon apps that just keep getting bigger such as Amazon Kids. Now I donât have kids and wonât ever use it. So I click on it and this opens another window where you can View APK Content or "Uninstall ". I click uninstall, then click âokâ,
and it uninstalls. Well it says that, but it just returns it to âfactoryâ. Now this took it from 32.56 MB down to 61.44 kB. A significant savings of space. So I do this for Amazon Kids, Amazon Photos, Music, FireTV Player, Alexa Video Player, Aria, Live TV, Alexa Shopping Shop Amazon, Screensaver, Easy Upgrade, and thatâs all. Now you need to be cateful doing this as deleting the wrong studd in ES can brick your stick. Of course if you use stuff like photos you will want all the updates.

Same with mine. It only helped with 1gb storage. Never understand why people add external storage
Ppl add external storage so they can have access to a larger variety of apps. Some do it so they can record things they want to watch at another time.

If you didnât add external storage to a device what Miki referred to would fill up a stick rather quickly. So either run minimal apps and a lot of maintenance to maintain your storage or a usb drive and you donât have to worry about it.
I have gained only 1gb storage using external storage. Apps use mostly internal storage to run.
Ummm. I have gained 16GB of internal storage for apps, using a smays powered otg usb hub. I now keep around 2.75GB free on the Max itself. 3rd party apps that get loaded onto the usb drive, or can be transferred to the USB keep their app data on the drive but do keep whatever per session data they need on the Max. As mentioned I have about 25 apps on the USB but keep Stremio, tivimate, downloader, malwarebytes, Proton, and VPNSafety dot on the max, along, of course, with all the Amazon pre-installed apps.
